A Portrait of Verge Therapy.

'Verge' is a word that has deep resonance with our human experience.

We are all constantly 'on the verge' of becoming who we are going to be – whether for better, or for worse. This is an exciting, as well as a daunting realization…

Like climbing a mountain, life can be a slog. We can find ourselves grinding through each day – depressed, anxious, down-and-out. Also like climbing a mountain, it is far easier to persevere through difficult times with a trustworthy companion. The kind of companion who meets us where we are at, equips us with helpful tools, and walks with us, at our pace, toward our hope.

Commencing upon this path is not always easy though.

The winding road to wholeness can have significant challenges, sometimes requiring us to go down into the depths in order to go up.

Moreover, various points along our pilgrimage cannot be overcome with sheer willpower - instead we are invited to embrace apparent stuck-ness. During these times we learn a great deal about ourselves, and often develop the courage to let go of unhelpful things we have been clinging to.

Gradually, we step out from the mud, and continue forward, one step at a time.

A sense of self-assurance begins to return.

“I can do this!”

We look around, and our companion is there, savoring the experience with us. Offering encouragement and cheering us on, the companion is ready to walk alongside us should we ever need their help again.
